Think of orange cream ice cream. That is what this drink reminds me of. This is a popular drink from the Dominican Republic. The name, “morir soñando,” basically means “to die dreaming.” I was actually quite surprised to find that Wikipedia has a page describing this drink. So cool.
Both of my boys love this drink. They can never remember what it is called in Spanish, so they just say, “Mom, what’s that drink we like with milk and orange juice? Can you make it, please?”
All you need are a few ingredients. It’s so easy you don’t even need a blender. This recipe is not as sweet as other recipes, since I try to keep our sugar intake at a minimum, but you can add as much sugar as you want. Sweeten it to taste.
You can use regular milk, but I like evaporated milk for this drink. It makes me think that there’s a use for all those cans of evaporated milk I see on the supermarket shelves.
