Do you want an easy and super comforting sweet treat that you can make in minutes? Then let’s make some Zeppole.
If you are waiting for me to tell you to take out your flour and of course eggs, milk, instant yeast, sugar, etc., that’s not going to happen.
By now you may be thinking that these Zeppole I’m talking about are products of my imagination. But no. These pieces of heaven are made with pizza dough!
Of course you’ll need oil to fry them and sugar to coat them. So let’s get started. Here’s what you need:
- Pizza dough
- Vegetable oil (for deep-frying)
- Confectioners’ sugar
Pour oil into a large frying pan, you’ll need about 2 inches. Heat oil and bring to a temperature between 350°F and 360°F.
Cut dough into 1-inch pieces and roll into balls. Fry zeppole in the hot oil for about 2 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Using a slotted spoon transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar and serve.
